Terri Kacie
Independent Community
Leader
The first female rappeller in a chair, Terri Kacie, Ford Mobility Able Ambassador since 1992, finds life an exhilarating adventure. Three rare spinal cord diseases can’t dampen
Terri Kacie's independent spirit to succeed in life as a wife, mother, athlete and Girl Scout Leader.
In 1988, three very rare spinal cord diseases,
syringomyelia, syringobulbia, and diastematomyelia, may have put Terri
in a wheelchair, but they left her far from defeated. Since then, she
has been named Ms. Wheelchair Florida, ranked #1 in America
in her wheelchair tennis division and most recently, Terri has taken
on climbing and rappelling.
In addition, Terri continues her 40-year mission as a registered Girl
Scout, Scout Leader, and as Council Trainer for both the Girl Scouts
and Boy Scouts of America.
Married “to my best friend” since
1981, Terri has two grown sons. As a recently retired medical
transcriptionist, Terri now has more time to
spend on her hobbies.
